Mobile Car Key Programming — Professional Equipment, Fast Service

Modern car keys contain a transponder chip or smart electronics that must be programmed to match your vehicle’s immobiliser. TuneCar’s technicians carry OEM-grade key programming equipment and can code new or replacement keys on-site, at your location.

What We Programme

  • Customer-supplied keys — keys you bought online or from a dealer, compatibility-checked and coded from £79
  • Transponder keys — chip-in-key coding for most vehicles 1995–present
  • Smart / proximity keys — keyless entry and push-start programming
  • Remote key fobs — central locking remote synchronisation
  • Flip keys — remote flip key blade and fob programming

Lost or Stolen Key? Delete It

If one of your keys has been lost or stolen but you still have another, you don’t need a full all-keys-lost job — but you should have the missing key deleted from the vehicle’s memory. From £69, we wipe the old key so it can never unlock or start your car, and your remaining keys keep working as normal.

Buying a Key Online? Read This First

Programming a customer-supplied key (from £79) can save money, but be careful:

  1. Check with us before buying — send the listing and your registration number; we’ll confirm compatibility for free
  2. Avoid “used” keys — many smart keys are locked to their first vehicle and can never be re-coded
  3. Quality varies — cheap aftermarket shells and boards fail early; we can supply OEM-grade keys from £99 cut and programmed

How It Works

  1. We arrive at your location with professional OBD key programming tools
  2. Connect to your vehicle’s ECU via the OBD port (or direct access for some models)
  3. Programme the new key to your vehicle’s immobiliser system
  4. Cut the key blade if required (combined service)
  5. Test all locks, ignition and remote functions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is car key programming? +

Car key programming (or key coding) links a physical key or fob to your vehicle's immobiliser system using a unique encrypted code. Without programming, a cut key will not start the engine.

How much does key programming cost? +

Programming a key you supply starts from £79. Deleting a lost or stolen key from your car's memory starts from £69. If we supply the key too, spare keys start from £99 including cutting and programming.

Can you programme a key I bought online? +

In most cases yes — as long as the key is compatible with your vehicle and not locked to another car. Send us the key details and your registration number before you buy and we'll confirm. Note that some cheap aftermarket keys are poor quality or pre-used and cannot be coded.

Can I programme a key myself? +

Most modern vehicles require specialist professional equipment to programme keys. DIY programming is generally not possible on vehicles manufactured after 2005.

Do you programme keys for all car brands? +

We programme keys for most major brands including Ford, Vauxhall, BMW, Mercedes, VW, Audi, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, Seat, Skoda, and many more.
