One key should open the doors and start the car
If the door lock and the ignition no longer match, we re-key them to one key. If the ignition is worn or damaged, we replace it. We come to the car. The price is confirmed before we travel.
Match the locks, or replace the ignition
Two different jobs get mixed up with “I need a key”.
The locks do not match. One key opens the door and a different one starts the car, or a replaced door lock no longer takes the ignition key. We re-key the cylinders so one key opens and starts.
The ignition is worn or broken. The key will not turn, the barrel spins, or it was damaged. We replace the ignition barrel. A key snapped off inside it is a extraction first, from £69, and a new ignition only if the barrel itself is damaged.
Send a photo of the key and the ignition, and the registration. We quote before we travel. If what you actually need is another key and the locks are fine, that is a spare car key.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my key open the door but not start the car? +
The door lock and the ignition are no longer the same. That happens after a lock was replaced, or when the ignition is worn. We match the cylinders so one key does both, or we replace the ignition if the barrel is finished.
Do you replace a car ignition? +
Yes, when the key will not turn, the barrel is worn, loose or damaged. We come to the car. The price is quoted from a photo and the registration before we travel. We do not publish a single from-price, because the barrel depends on the car.
Is this the same as a new car key? +
No. A spare key is for when the locks are fine and you want another key. This page is for when the locks themselves do not match, or the ignition needs replacing. If you also need a key, we supply it. We do not programme a key you bought yourself.
Do you come to me? +
Yes. We come to your home, your work, or wherever the car is parked.
